About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Finance that will report through to the Finance Business Partner. This is an important position based in Brisbane and responsible for assisting the Finance Business Partner in providing support to the Rio Tinto Aluminium Pacific Operation's Corporate and Functional teams.

You will:
  • Actively provide finance business partnering support to the Pacific Operation's Corporate and Functional teams, including attending and participating in team meetings and workshops
  • Monitoring and managing costs for the Pacific Operation's Corporate and Functional teams including working with the Controllership and Closing & Reporting teams to ensure that these are accurately reported whilst looking for ways to streamline and automate reporting processes
  • Actively monitoring accounting processes around the sourcing of caustic including working with the Commercial and Controllership teams to ensure that shipments, pricing, and inventory levels are accurately reported
  • Involved and assist in month end processes around corporate cost reporting, reporting of research and development (R&D) expenditure, consolidated Pacific Operation's results and monthly performance review (MPR) processes
  • Working with relevant stakeholders to improve processes around the capturing and reporting of R&D expenditure for the Pacific Operations group
  • Active involvement in the annual corporate planning cycle including meeting with cost centre owners, helping them populate their cost centre plans, consolidation of corporate costs and assisting with the compilation of the annual planning presentation to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Become the key corporate finance contact in the Pacific Operation's transformation program, including assisting initiative owners with their business cases and valuations and review and approval of initiatives in Momentum. Provide finance governance for the Integrated Productivity Program (IPP) including attending and providing input into the monthly IPP meetings

What you'll bring
  • Degree in accounting or finance is preferrable
  • CA or CPA qualified is preferrable
  • Motivated, determined individual with ability to work autonomously
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with ability to work with large amounts of data and draw conclusions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both face to face and remotely
  • Ability to engage and build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Commercial acumen and judgement to provide meaningful insights and influence decisions
