Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.

Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.

Job Description

KG Mining (Bald Mountain), Inc. offers a Summer Hire Program for the dependents, relatives, or family friends of Bald Mountain Mine employees. Selection of students for this program will be based on the criteria below. Summer Students will work on entry-level mine-related tasks while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Job Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge about the mining industry.
  • Hands on participation in various general labor tasks.
  • Successful candidates will be expected to utilize various skillsets/knowledge.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.
  • Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
  • Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Eligibility

  • Employee's dependent children who are planning on attending or are attending post- secondary education classes in the fall will be given first consideration.
  • Although first consideration is given to employee dependents, it is not required to be a dependent. An employee referral will be required for employee relatives and family friends.
  • The applicant must be 18 - 26 years of age, and presently authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be a High School Graduate or have received a GED.
  • Submit a completed Summer Student Application for Employment on TalentMine (online).
  • Submit a Resume via online application.
  • Submit a Cover Page expressing interest via online application.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening prior to starting work.
  • Must apply by March 31, 2023.


Employment

  • Applicants will start Monday, June 12, 2023 and can work for a period of up to 90 days.
  • Positions will be paid at $23.00 per hour.
  • Successful candidates will be hired and administered through a temporary hiring agency (Rangefront).
  • These positions are classified as temporary and are not eligible for BMM benefits.
  • Successful candidates will be responsible for their own housing and transportation. (Buses Provided).


Administration

  • Summer hires will not be assigned to the same department or crew as the family member or employee who referred them.
  • Summer hire work is not guaranteed and summer hires are held to the same expectations of performance and safety standards of all Bald Mountain personnel.
