Job Description

We are looking for a strong, experienced leader with vision and determination to lead a global team of world-class industry specialists through the next exciting phase of our Metals and Mining (M&M) Markets business.

The Global Head of M&M Markets Research will be a critical member of the M&M Leadership Team, and will be responsible for leading a successful, innovative, growth-focused business area. You will be accountable for leading the Markets Research team to drive commercial success, strategic product development and the delivery of world class research, contributing to the overall achievement of M&M's shared goals. You will be an entrepreneurial and experienced leader with a proven track record in driving commercial success, setting a clear vision, developing others and managing significant change.

The Markets team is a key component of WoodMac's M&M offerings. Through integrated analysis across the value-chain, our internationally located team produces fundamental market, trade flow and price forecasts, covering a broad spectrum of commodities. We work with a range of customers including national and international producers and consumers, investment banks and institutional investors.

Reporting directly to the Head of M&M, you will lead, inspire and support the development and timely delivery of our content, commercial goals and thought leadership across the different commodity markets. You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of our Metals & Mining Market service, ensuring our data and insight is indispensable and critical to customer workflows. You will lead a team of managers, analysts and subject matter experts producing world-class commercial data, analytics, and insight. You will also sit on the M&M leadership team and input into the overall vision and growth strategy for the M&M business.

In this role you will have significant collaboration with key stakeholders across WoodMac including Sales & Marketing, Product, Data and Consulting. In addition, you will be expected to develop and maintain key customer and industry relationships at decision-maker level. You will also be pivotal to the transformation of our Metals & Mining Markets content onto our proprietary Lens Platform and continue to drive innovation to differentiate us from our competitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Member of the M&M leadership team responsible for achieving the strategic goals and metrics set for this business unit by the Head of Commodities
  • Set and deliver the M&M Markets Research strategic goals, priorities and performance objectives
  • Reviews and monitors the performance of M&M Markets Research for business efficiency, cost control, compliance, performance measurement and personal/professional development
  • Manage and lead the M&M Markets Research leadership leam. Responsible for maintaining an inclusive, high performing, engaged and successful team
  • Works closely with sales and consulting leads to support revenue goals, jointly identifying areas for growth
  • Develop and maintain key customer and industry relationships at decision-maker level to address the evolving needs of the metals and mining industry and our customers
  • Partner with the Sales/Product/Technology functions to deliver against the strategic product roadmap for M&M Markets and ensure common processes, methodologies and technologies across the product set
  • Partners with Operations, COEs and other Central Functions to achieve M&M Markets goals
  • Management of talent and resources, including appropriate decision making to support the profitable delivery of world-class content and consulting
  • Identify and develop new business growth opportunities, displaying a sound knowledge of the Metals & Mining industry macro trends and outlooks

Qualifications
  • You are an experienced leader having worked in the Metals, Mining or Energy industry, preferably in the process of developing and commercialising commodity related research, through roles in research, corporate affairs, business development, thinktanks, financial appraisal and/or similar functions
  • A thorough understanding of the trends and drivers that are shaping the Metals and Mining Industry through the energy transition, as these industries respond to policy, and develop new commercial pathways
  • You are motivated by, and experienced in, delivering customer-centric continuous improvement to optimise revenue growth
  • Strong people management and leadership skills with a passion for developing others, and building a diverse and inclusive environment in which people thrive
  • Your leadership style fosters commitment, accountability, empowerment, and excellence in your team aligned to business priorities
  • You have a natural inclination to collaboration and relationship building internally and externally across global networks with a proven ability to work across regions and cultures
