About the role

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join the team in Brisbane to deliver commercial strategies and projects for Development & Technology Business Units and Rio Tinto Aluminum (RTA). This role will require collaborating with a range of key stakeholders to influence and manage a broad portfolio of work. The successful candidate will be required to build and maintain close relationships within Rio Tinto Procurement category groups to ensure that each sourcing project takes into consideration relevant category strategies. The role will work closely with the group function for the delivery of commercially favorable contracts and deliver optimal value and solutions to the Rio Tinto Business Unit.

This role is a great opportunity for highly motivated, experienced procurement professional who has effective stakeholder engagement and change management skills, as well as a good commercial awareness with a background in procurement. Reporting to the Procurement Business Partner you will be accountable for management of end-to-end supply chain including but not limited to:
  • Developing and implementing sourcing strategies that contribute to value delivery through the deployment of best practices, procurement tools and negotiation skills.
  • Supporting key or complex sourcing projects, collaborating with key business stakeholders to establish the commercial and project execution strategies.
  • Management of end-to-end procurement sourcing activities.
  • Ensuring all projects are successfully delivered using the Ariba platform and meeting Rio Tinto's compliance requirements.
  • Actively facilitating supplier performance management to ensure effective delivery of all agreed commercial outcomes.
  • Working closely with other Procurement professionals regionally and globally in order to replicate value delivery opportunities.
  • Collaborating with key business stakeholders to assist the business in delivering its annual plan.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support relevant BU related continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, enhance, maintain and manage and maintain appropriate relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise, support and negotiate on behalf of the BU where claims may be submitted for non-conformances.
  • Working in a dynamic environment to build a high level of trust through open and transparent relationships and engagements.

About you

  • Ability to drive successful commercial outcomes
  • Ability to formulate and present analysis and business cases
  • High level of understanding of end-to-end procurement processes
  • Negotiation skills and experience in contract negotiations
  • Project management experience, including partnering and influencing stakeholders
  • Proactive with the ability to be autonomous, and contributor to a positive and strong team environment
  • Proficiency in using SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong influencing, stakeholder engagement and change management capabilities.
  • Experience in developing commercial strategies, business recommendations and be able to lead supplier negotiations.
  • Experience in using Ariba S2C module is preferred (but not essential)
  • The ability to achieve outcomes through influencing and collaboration with others.
