Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Product Operations, the Lead, Planning and Reporting will be an operator, implementer and gatekeeper; enabling the Head of Digital Analytics and the Product Operations team to focus on strategy setting, and further integrating Teck's innovation-led business transformation.

In this role, the Lead, Planning and Reporting will be the Manager's trusted advisor, proxy and integrator within the Digital Analytics team, across Teck and with external partners. This role provides an excellent opportunity to both make a meaningful contribution as well as gain exposure to various Teck functions, senior leaders and the exposure to a Senior Vice President and Head of level role in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Serve the following four key functions:
  • The operator: Establish, follow, and refine structure, processes, and build efficiencies within the Product Operations team. Ensure the team adheres to timelines, value targets, and the overall objectives. Be adept at converting abstract ideas into smooth operations
  • The implementer: Translate the strategic vision into action. Strive for innovation and encourage teammates to try what's never been done before. Support with holding the team accountable and ensure forward movement in alignment with business priorities, from conception to completion
  • The integrator: Build cohesion among peers as well as across the Digital Analytics team and encourage collaboration and cooperation toward a common goal. Build and maintain cross-departmental relationships. Listen to people's concerns, find common ground to build a foundation of trust, and encourage engagement in the Digital Analytics vision
  • The proxy: Be a reliable ally to the Manager to step in and make decisions (as advised by the Manager and at the appropriate level) when needed. Communicate clearly with the Manager and share expectations in order to be able to act with confidence as a proxy
    • In addition to the key functions above, assume a variety of day-to-day responsibility for numerous, and often changing, projects and tasks. These daily tasks may include:
      • Lead the annual and quarterly business planning processes including: quarterly planning approvals, quarterly business reviews, annual planning activities such as CDAF
      • Develop, implement and monitor Digital Analytics rhythms and routines; Lead the development and continuous improvement of the department's rhythms and routines
      • Support the development of the Operating Framework; contribute to standardization of reporting, planning and governance activities such as steering committees.
      • Provide assistance on senior interactions: Between the SVP, Head of Digital Analytics, Directors, Operations and the Senior Management Team.
      • Create standardized reporting: Standardize reports and metrics across Digital Analytics to provide relevant feedback on the department's performance in a timely manner


    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
    • Broad understanding of the business of mining that leads to strong and clearly articulated value propositions for strategic investments.
    • Strong analytical, planning, project management and organizational skills with an ability to handle contending demands.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and empower teams and other site individuals, as well as handle third party relationships effectively.
    • Natural team leader who can build, lead and mentor a diverse team.
    • Clear understanding and proven track record of change management in a transformation setting.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build meaningful relationships with partners at various levels and departments across the business.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated team player who thrives in a collaborative team environment
    • Process focused and results oriented.
    • Open-minded; has high tolerance for ambiguity and rapidly evolving environments.
    • Proven ability to think strategically and has strong business acumen
