Wood Asset Support Group delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation and technical services to the mining and chemicals sector supporting operations locally and globally.

This role will see you join a EPCM team delivering a large-scale technically challenging brownfields Chemicals project, reporting directly to the Project Manager in Wood's Asset Support Engineering group. This position will see you work from our CBD based office, with frequent site visits (approx. 50km from Perth CBD) when required.

This posiition will be a 12 month max term contract with possibility of extension.

The role will encompass the following responsibilities;
  • Plan, organise, direct, control and evaluate the activities and operations of a multidiscipline engineering team
  • Consult and negotiate with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings, driving constructive technical discussions
  • Accountable for the delivery of fit-for-purpose engineering solutions that perform in accordance with the project requirements
  • Accountable for the efficient planning and management of engineering resources, identifying and pursuing opportunities for margin improvement, including overseas high-value centre utilisation.
  • Monitor compliance with standards and processes to assure delivery
  • Driving continual focus on process safety through the engineering team and the elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and embedding lessons learned
  • Driving technical assurance on the assigned scope(s) of work
  • Managing and leading, supporting, and supervising the discipline engineering teams on the assigned scope(s) of work.


Skills / Qualifications

About You

This opportunity is looking for someone who has significant experience in chemical production or O&G processing. Ideally you will have a minimum of 20+ years of proven design engineering experience in the Chemicals Production sector in Australia including brownfield contexts.

In addition, you will have the following attributes:
  • Experienced in leading a multi-disciplinary team across a full project scope.
  • You will be suitably qualified in Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • Knowledge of NaCN production would be highly desirable. Similar experience in brownfields oil & gas engineering contexts will also be highly regarded.
  • Ability to manage risk during the design process consistent with technical and commercial requirements (supported by substantial exposure to the HAZOP process and its context in design)
  • A "solutions mindset" and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities
  • Experienced in delivery of detailed engineering through to execution within brownfields projects.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate across multiple teams both nationally and locally, driving a culture of clear communication between location-based teams
