We are now seeking expression of interest from current Newcrest staff in the position of Technical Specialist Medium Term Planning at our new Brisbane-based office to support our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).

The Role

Reporting to the Manager Planning, the Technical Specialist MT Planning contribute to the development of medium-term production plans into integrated Lihir Gold Operations (LGO) optimised plans (consistent with long term plans), inclusive of supply and value chain constraints, to deliver long-term value from current and potential resources.

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Develop and deliver plans and priorities to achieve the medium to long-term aspirations of LGO.
  • Consult with Operations on input parameters, develops production plans (>3 months including designs, models, schedules, and forecasts), monitors performance against plans, and identifies actions on major variances.
  • Collaborate with Operations to deliver the budget physicals to Commercial to enable accurate and timely preparation of the annual budget.
  • Produce production plans, designs, models, schedules and forecasts.
  • Contribute to the development and maintains strategic plans for asset replacement and the LGO value chain process flow.
  • Contribute to Concept, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility phase study requirements for Capital Projects that fall within LGO threshold.
  • Ensure tracking of monthly, quarterly and annual targets and KPIs.
  • Contribute to the scheduling and allocation of resources to ensure all activities are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Provide direction, mentoring and acts as a technical reference point to ensure outputs align with operational needs, strategic plans and budgets.

The Requirements
  • Tertiary qualified Bachelor in an appropriate Engineering discipline or similar essential.
  • Post graduate studies in an appropriate Engineering discipline desirable.
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar desirable.
  • 7+ years relevant work experience essential in appropriate roles preferably in metals extraction and processing.
  • Extensive experience in undertaking concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
  • Highly developed capability to contribute, challenge and lead using engineering concepts, strategies and methodologies within related technical discipline.
  • Highly advanced and recognised technical skills and expertise in minerals processing equipment and circuits (desirable).
  • Advanced project management skills including methodology, practices and techniques.
  • Advanced use of various company and departmental systems including SAP, Optimum, downtime reporting, Power BI, etc.
  • Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously under pressure.
