What will you be responsible for?

Reporting to the General Manager, the Asset Manager is responsible for leading all mobile and fixed plant asset management execution and technical activities within the site maintenance areas. The manager sets the vision asset management at all 3 mines and the process plant in the Timmins camp and drives accountability to meet or exceed expectations and targets in all business areas related to asset management. In Asset management, we will work in collaboration with the mining and process operations teams to develop and implement safe maintenance plans and programs.

  • Effectively lead the Asset Management team as an integrated part of Porcupine's operations
  • Actively drive a safety-focused work environment, implementing fatality risk control and verification processes, and fostering an environment where employees are empowered to speak up about safety concerns
  • Conduct Critical Control Verifications as defined under Health and Safety objectives
  • Lead all contractors and employees to ensure compliance with all SOPs, safety and environmental standards, and local and company regulations
  • Develop processes and procedures to support the effective implementation of the Asset Management strategy at all Newmont mine locations in Porcupine
  • With the central Asset Management Function, we co-ordinate the development of a clear Annual Maintenance Plan integrated with the zero based budgeting and planning process
  • Recommend systems and process design, in conjunction with operational and global systems and processes needs that achieves overall technical, commercial and social business objectives
  • Through change management, we encourage integration across the value stream to better serve Porcupine's fixed and mobile asset utilization targets
  • Develop and supervise the capital expenditure and operating budgets for asset management areas in alignment with site, regional and corporate objectives
  • Coach and mentor team members to improve performance, ensure ongoing growth and development, and design organic succession plans. Identify and develop people to meet current and future organizational needs
  • Monitor global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used for Asset Management teams
  • Be an effective team member of the Senior Leadership Team at Porcupine, and will build a work environment of accountability and openness
  • Establish positive relationships with collaborators across the business and in the local community
  • Develop practical and viable contingency plans in response to key risks to ensure plan delivery
  • Partner with the union executives to ensure consistent and fair application of the collective bargaining agreement and build relationships of trust with the membership

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, or significant industry experience
  • 15-20 years' experience in mining and/or heavy construction industry with a strong background in Asset Management
  • 10-15 years Supervisory experience leading a successful team and implementing value driven improvements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of planning, scheduling, and budget forecasting
  • Development of annual maintenance plans and RCM models
  • Proven experience working in changing environments in both remote and residential locations
  • Experience and knowledge in working in a management role in a unionized environment
  • Validated experience developing and delivering business strategies that improve Asset Management performance, reliability and safety, reducing operating costs and increasing return on assets
  • Demonstrated experience with change, communication and knowledge management methods and systems
  • Previous experience in Facilities Management or Professional services contract

  • Excellent problem-solving ability and a confirmed history of developing successful teams
  • Leading people and projects through systems, processes, and procedures
  • Process orientation/continuous improvement mentality, with an ability to find opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong understanding for implementation and managing reliability and condition monitoring practices in a mining environment
  • Strong cost leadership skills while focusing on safe production delivery
  • Strong project management skills, understanding key project drivers, resource allocation, cost control, and scope delivery means
  • Clear understanding of how a mining-related business is run and of the primary business drivers
  • Resourcefulness to perform complex troubleshooting analyses and resolve a wide variety of mine related issues

The position is located at the Porcupine Gold Mine in Timmins, Ontario. Work will be conducted in an office setting, with frequent field visits on the mine site. The regular schedule is 4 days of work, followed by 3 days off.
