Position Summary

The Equipment Trainer is an expert operator with the ability to teach and mentor others in safe, productive practices. This position will be a Coal Valley Mine temporary employee. Candidates should be able to understand and explain the design limits of equipment and how to productively operate within those limits. They should also be able to use the equipment monitoring systems to identity training opportunities. This role will be responsible for developing advanced training and feedback systems. These systems will include integrating an Immersive Simulator into Westmoreland's training program.

Supervisor Responsibilities

While the Equipment Trainer will not directly supervise employees, they will be instrumental in identifying individual training needs and communicating progress to the employee and their supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Work with site management, OEM's, regulatory agencies, and other sites to establish best practice operating standards. Develop a training and mentoring program to teach these skills to operators.

· Understand and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure tracking is accurate and that Supervisors can access the training data.

· Facilitate the field portion of the competency and evaluation process of employees. Participate in employee selection as needed.

· Evaluate workers to establish their level of competency. Use both field observations and data to assess and track operator competency. Help direct training to individual operators as needed.

· Provide management with information to enable better evaluations of operators.

· Assist with site staffing and crew balancing by sharing knowledge of employee capabilities.

· Assist in developing policies, procedures, and safe work practices for operators.

Typical Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

This position also requires through the course of a normal shift, the physical skill and ability to board and de- board the equipment, access machine inspection points, and perform inspections.

Capable of walking steeply inclined travel ways and climbing access ladders. Successful candidate must be able and diligent in using personal protective equipment (PPE) as warranted by job conditions and Company policy. Such PPE includes hearing protection, hard-hat, respirator, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and other PPE as required by the Company.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.

Typical Working Conditions

Both field and office environment. Will spend time both in equipment and in light vehicles training and observing operators. Occasional evening or weekend work.

Education and Experience

· Minimum (8) years of equipment operations with (5) years mining experience.

o Operated a broad variety of mobile equipment.

o Proficient with safe, efficient earth moving practices.

· Prefer previous training experience.

· Valid Class 1 or Class 3 Drivers license with clean commercial abstract.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

· Certified equipment operator on multiple types of mobile equipment.

· Must have or be willing to obtain relevant trainer certifications. Prefer CSTS with CSO, Ground Disturbance Level-2, and Standard First Aid. Foreman Certification preferred.

· Level 3 immersive simulator certificate.
