Mill Process Maintenance Superintendent

Objective:

The Process Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading maintenance activities at the Mill, Concentrator, Waste tailings Storage Facilities and associated surface areas with a strong focus on safe work performance values and culture. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Execute a safety culture to support safe work performance and zero-harm.

•Coordinate the implementation of safety plans and programs to the crews and promote risk recognition and awareness, hazard recognition and mitigation programs.

•Ensure that all work areas are inspected, safe working practices are employed, and that incident investigations and reports are complete with root cause analysis and procedural changes implemented.

•Ensure that all training activity is implemented and completed in accordance with Federal, State environmental regulations and policy. Maintain current records on all the maintenance operations, equipment and employees to ensure that Hazops inspections are completed on all equipment and tasks; SOP's have been completed by the trainers and signed off by the employees. Ensure that the master sheet is current and that all new training and upgrades are recorded.

•Oversee mill maintenance including crushing, grinding, flotation, water treatment plant and concentrate dewatering.

•Ensure that all shift daily, weekly monthly reports and KPI records are complete, accurate and reported to the General Manger, Mine Manager, Process Manager, and Engineering.

•Participate in all daily/weekly staff or production meetings and planning sessions and ensure the communication and implementation of any relevant plan or policy changes to the crews.

•Assist in design review, construction and commissioning activities of mill and site infrastructure.

•Actively participate in building the mill operations and maintenance teams.

•Assesses impact of new product/process improvement on existing systems

•Works closely with Mill Manager. Recommends specifies process equipment based on process descriptions, to include considerations based on material of construction compatibility, functionality, and optimal process flows

•Participate in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA's & PSSR's) for assigned processes/equipment.

•Develops scope of work and manages, in conjunction with site plant engineering, minor capital projects associated with new product introduction or existing plan process improvements

•Prepares developmental project and process Cost of Goods Sales Assessments

•Supports existing operations in the recommendation of process optimization strategies and hands-on implementation of process improvements

•Supports validation through collaboration on projects requiring installation and operational qualification of process equipment

•Works closely with the Operations Superintendent of the mill and surface mobile equipment.

•Ensure awareness and support of Environmental Best Management Practices.

•Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

•Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.

•Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

•Work in tandem with the maintenance planner and purchasing to ensure cost efficient parts availability, acquisition, and supply, tracking of warrantee credits, cores, and equipment histories

•Develop and implement maintenance strategies that utilize RCM techniques and budget control that will deliver the optimum process plant availability and operating costs.

•Maintains time and production records.

•Capable of Performing activities of workers supervised.

•Prepares budgets, recommend purchase of capital equipment and selection of vendors, prepare AFE's for capital projects

•Co-ordinate with the stores/procurement department to ensure that all the necessary maintenance parts and supplies are available to maintain the process plant and associated facilities.

•Prepare maintenance operating cost forecasts, budgets, and monthly maintenance reports.

•Deputize for the Process Manager role during periods of leave.

•Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•Minimum ten (10) years of experience in mineral processing engineering and maintenance - covering grinding, flotation and filtering, strongly desired.

•Minimum three (3) years of experience in a department leadership role, including supervision of work force and professional staff strongly desired.

•B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.

•Experience in maintenance best practices and job planning required.

•Demonstrated safety leadership and behavioral management skills required.

•Experience in construction and commissioning activities for medium and large-scale projects strongly preferred.

•Familiarity with required safety and MSHA standards and related environmental compliance standards required.

•Experience working in a self-directed role required and familiarity with a multi-functional, smaller mine project preferred.

•Ability to work well with others required.

•Ability to communicate professionally in written and verbal form required.

•Familiarity with Microsoft programs required.

•Ability to work flexible hours/schedule required.

•Ability to work independently with self-motivation required.

•Strong analytical and decision-making skills required.

•Proven ability to read, analyze and interpret documents ad the ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
