Hatch is currently seeking highly motivated, CURRENT CIVIL ENGINEER SENIORS OR RECENT GRADUATES that are LOCAL TO DENVER for a Junior Civil Engineer (Rail) to join the Infrastructure group in our Rail team in Denver, CO. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects.

Our knowledge of rail infrastructure includes track, earthworks, bridges and structures, planning and advisory services, terminals and ports, tunnels, traction power, and rail systems and communications. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for various technical design duties on freight rail and transit projects. These projects could include feasibility analyses; conceptual design; preliminary and detailed design; drafting of plans and specifications; and other support as required to the Rail and Infrastructure teams.

As the successful candidate, you will assist the Senior Design Engineers and Project Managers to:

• apply engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment;
• design track and railway infrastructure in accordance with the quality objectives and regulations, laws and standards;
•produce a wide variety of track designs, grading models, DTM surface and applicable details;
•work with LIDAR point clouds, manage, verify and control surveys and geographic data for design needs;
•ensure compliance with laws and regulations in health and safety related to design.

You bring to the role:
A recent or soon to be graduate with a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams
• Commitment to achieving engineering excellence
• A desire to learn and continually develop
• Previous Internship or Co-op experience is preferred
• Experience in civil infrastructure design, DTM surfaces, alignment, grading/drainage design, and construction would be an asset;
• Experience working for an engineering consultancy in the rail sector or railroad would be an asset;
• Having experience in the use and application of railway industry standards would be an asset;
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Navisworks and ArcGIS would also be considered an asset;
