DESCRIPTION OF POSITION DUTIES:
Welder/Mechanic will assist in the maintenance of Bucyrus Erie walking draglines, coal handling facilities, drills and other mine related equipment. In addition, the Welder/Mechanic must be able to weld on all mine equipment including coal haulers and track type earth movers. This person must be able to perform assigned tasks at heights on any mining equipment (i.e., elevated boom point and mast of draglines). The mechanical experience will include working on heavy, open and enclosed gear systems for draglines and crushing and conveying systems (i.e., repair and overhaul). This position requires working multiple shifts.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants for this job will be required to pass an established weld test. Must possess a strong working mechanical knowledge to accomplish required work on dragline heavy gear box repair and overhauls, including knowledge of general maintenance practices encountered on draglines, drills and coal processing facilities. Working knowledge of Preventative Maintenance (PM's) and proper tooling used in maintenance of this equipment. Working knowledge of rigging/lifting techniques. Applicant must have a strong working knowledge of welding, cutting, fabricating, specialized weld repairs. Applicant must demonstrate a strong awareness and understanding of work-related safety practices. Must be physically capable to work on heights above 50 feet, to perform heavy lifting of 50 lbs. or more, to work in confined areas and to work in awkward positions requiring prolonged bending or kneeling. In addition, physical ability to work in environmental conditions with significant exposure to the elements of dust, noise, chemicals and fumes and adverse weather, capable of walking steeply inclined travel ways, and climbing access ladders and structures with multiple stairways. Successful candidate must be able and diligent in using personal protective equipment (PPE) as warranted by job conditions and Company policy. Such PPE includes: hearing protection, hard-hat, respirator, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and other PPE as required by the Company.
Must be able to work rotating shifts and weekends.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
Pre-employment screening including physical, drug screening, personal & criminal backgrounds checks will be conducted on all candidates that receive a conditional offer.
