Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, the Project Engineer-in-Training or Engineer, is responsible for all aspects of project management and delivering safe and environmentally responsible projects on time and on budget. This role has the potential for extended hours, especially during planned shutdown periods.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can build strong relationships and collaborate with multiple departments across our Business Unit. This person is detail-oriented, organized, forward-thinking, positive and self-motivated. We require someone who can manage shifting priorities and communicate with partners throughout the mine site. The ability to work outdoors in dusty and varying weather conditions, perform moderate physical activities, and work at heights and around bodies of water is vital for success.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Manage project delivery from the pre-scoping and scoping stage through pre-feasibility, feasibility, and execution stages up to commissioning and project closeout
  • Track project achievements, identify potential conflict and devise contingency plans
  • Collaborate in the planning, organizing, securing, budgeting and managing of resources for the effective and efficient completion of projects
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate to involved parties throughout the project life cycle


Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering
  • Eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
  • Minimum three years of experience in a project management or an engineering capacity, including all aspects of engineering, permitting, and construction
  • Valid class 5 drivers' license
  • Strong digital proficiency, especially in the Microsoft Office Suite®, MS Project, and AutoCAD
