Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution centre for finished nickel products.

Our Team:

Our team is responsible for the sustainable procurement for the Operations ensuring a strategic sourcing methodology that consistently provides cost reductions throughout the procurement process.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Asset Sales Analyst, Local 2020-05 to join our team in Sudbury.

The successful candidate will be responsible to sell assets, scraps and manage building demolition contract strategy across all Base Metals North Atlantic Operations (Sudbury, Thompson, Long Harbour, Voisey's Bay, Port Colbourne and UK). Additionally, the candidate will be required to define sales strategy, develop new markets through market intelligence analysis, sale commercial negotiation, sales contract legal terms and conditions analysis, commercials contract management, define strategy to reduce cost and maximize revenues generated by scrap and assets sales.

Accountabilities

In this position you will:
  • Monitor, analyze and evaluate market trends and indexes, to anticipate the identification of the opportunities to maximize revenue through sales of assets and scrap.
  • Execute scrap and assets purchasing market evaluation, identify market opportunities and possible threats through benchmarking, seeking for continuous improvement
  • Develop Assets and Scrap sales strategy for each type of materials generated at our operations and managed by Environmental/CMD groups, taking into consideration geographic location of our mines, logistics constrains, purchase market availability.
  • Maximize benefits to Vale, through the right execution of defined sales strategies
  • Lead and develop benchmark with other Vale operations inside and outside Base Metals, as well as with other mining and heavy industry companies
  • Guarantee assets sales compliance with Vale delegation and authority norm, as well all legal T&C's alignment to protect Vale.
  • Elaborate and formalize sales orders and guarantee correct delegation of authority approval levels.
  • Close and periodically relationship with CMD. Warehouse and Environmental groups to anticipate possible issues and maximize value opportunities

Qualifications and Specific Skills

Education: Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma preferred in Business related discipline (example Commerce, Engineering/Certified Engineering technologist, Legal). Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) certification is an asset. Certification through Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) is also desirable.

Related Employment Experience: 6 months to 2 years in Assets/Scrap Metals sales or experience in related roles (Vale or external) is preferred. Such roles might include: Buyers, procurement officers, contract administrators, category managers, etc.

Computer Skills: General Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook), Access, Adobe, Internet, working knowledge of Vale procurement systems including SAP and producing required reports.

Project leadership experience, demonstrated negotiation skills, inventory and warehousing experience, working knowledge of contract law, sales tax, customs procedures as well as duty and transportation options is an asset.
