Location: Columbus, Montana | Supporting all Montana Operating Facilities

POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will direct project management for all major projects within the Montana operating facilities. The Director of Projects will facilitate tracking/scheduling of those major projects that align with annual budgets and will proactively consider multi-year projects for proper forward planning. Projects encompass all facets of the operation from surface to underground infrastructure installations. Primary focus will be on long term infrastructure and those projects that are considered critical for sustainable operations. Preparation of yearly capital & operating budgets, preparation of expenditure authority documentation, and coordination of engineering, permitting, and procurement processes required for project execution. This position reports to the Vice President - Technical

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Commitment to the Safety and Health of everyone working on our properties.
  • Supervise, coach, develop, and mentor a team that is dynamic with changing conditions.
  • Develop group succession plans and be involved with staffing and hiring efforts.
  • Lead the team in the management of multiple projects of various size, complexity and duration.
  • Work closely with mine mgmt. and operations personnel and support groups in all phases of project development (concept thru project delivery)
  • Produce / review required project budgets, forecasts, scheduling, spending authority, and project reports.
  • Adherence to and promote Change Management protocols.
  • Produce / review project cost estimates and economic analysis.
  • Identify internal & external project risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Define organizational standards for project process , controls , and EVM reporting
  • Provide Functional contractor controls for bid requests
  • Provide Functional contractor management policy and procedures including safety program expectations
  • Facilitate engineering solutions to permitting requirements
  • Provide site check and balances for fleet management and critical infrastructure capital

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Project Management or related field
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience managing projects
  • Experience working in a mining operation having a range of exposure to a broad spectrum of practical and technical areas
  • Project planning / scheduling software experience ,
  • Must be willing and able to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge & understanding of narrow vein mine operations.
