The Role: A Health & Safety Leadership opportunity, accountable for the H&S, Emergency Response, Training, Medical & Security departments, you will be responsible for the recruitment, development and leadership of your team to improve and progress the mines H&S maturity.

Provide the site with solid H&S leadership through expert knowledge of Canadian regulations and legislation's, building trusted collaborative relationships in order to promote a strong health & safety leadership culture across the site.

Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 + Bonus
Reports To: Mine General Manager

Core Responsibilities:
  • Team and safety system development
  • Maintain and audit safety & security management systems
  • Leadership advising and coaching
  • Establish safety consistency
  • Audits and performance management
  • Training and development of various departments
  • Site H&S, ER strategy
  • Hazard identification
  • Further develop policies & procedures
  • Risk management strategy


Requirements:

  • Degree educated (preferable) mining and/or H&S related
  • Underground mine operations knowledge
  • 7 -10 years mining Health & Safety leadership experience
  • Understanding of Ontario safety regulations
  • Strong relationship builder and influencing skills
  • Excellent communicator
  • Proficient in behavioural safety
  • High energy / Self motivation
  • Excellent judgement and decision making skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
