About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Strategic Resource Development Manager, to join the Centerra Corporate team. This position is based at our Toronto, ON office.

Reporting to the EVP of Business Development, you will be a core member of the new business team responsible for overall screening, prioritizing, and evaluating the geological potential of early to advanced-stage exploration/development projects, leading to recommendations to early investments (JV or equity placement), or acquisitions.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Identifying, screening and evaluating early or advanced exploration projects and building a database to track junior exploration progress
  • Providing recommendations to the Global Exploration and Business Development team for investment decisions
  • Examining and evaluating mineral resource estimation and production planning scenarios for exploration targets under a variety of economic parameters
  • Performing reviews and/or estimating mineral resources of deposits located by Exploration Groups, as well as potential joint ventures with other corporations
  • Contributing to the technical services team in the preparation of year-end mineral reserve and resource figures and ensuring compliance with National Instrument 43-101 and Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) disclosure standards before the publication of the Annual Report and Annual Information Form with Senior Management, Legal Department, and Corporate Internal Communications/Communications
  • Keeping current with respect to changes or developments in mineral resource estimation methodologies, mining technologies and reporting regulations
  • Providing direction and leadership to both internal staff and external consultants or contractors engaged in providing technical support activities on due diligence to the Company


About You

To qualify, you must have a university degree in geology, and/or geological engineering, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant practical experience. Additional specialized education, including a master's level degree or equivalent, would be beneficial.

You must also be currently registered as a Professional Geologist (P. Geo.) as defined under National Instrument 43- 101.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • High level of proficiency with resources modelling and mine planning software systems (Leapfrog, Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, Medsystem, Whittle 4D, MineShed etc.)
  • Demonstrated interest/aptitude for further learning of such systems
  • Knowledge of CIM mineral reserve/resource definitions and guidelines, OSC reporting regulations such as National Instrument 43-101 and TSE disclosure standards
  • Advanced level skills in Excel: the ability to build basic financial models, with sensitivity analyses on key inputs and assumptions
  • A firm understanding of both open pit and underground mining procedures
  • Experience with exposure to financial modelling and mine operational budgeting (asset)
  • Previous experience in project evaluation and technical due diligence
