About the role

We are looking for a Mining Systems and Network Communication Technician which will assist the Mine Monitor and Controls Engineer in deploying and maintaining pit network and heavy equipment technology within the open pit. The Technician maintains systems such as Modular-Dispatch, CAT Terrain, and wireless network systems in order to ensure safe and efficient transmission of mining operational data.

Reporting to the Mining and Dispatch Engineer you will be:
  • Engage with Mine Operations to triage and resolve mine network failures
  • Maintain Modular-Dispatch hardware and software on heavy equipment
  • Maintain hardware and software for the wireless pit network
  • Maintain hardware and software for CAT-Terrain machine guidance system
  • Engage with third party vendors to maintain systems
  • Assist in maintenance of Heavy Equipment payload reporting systems

What you'll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Experience in wireless network systems such as Rajant or similar, including set up and programming of radios, network troubleshooting, and end-device connection
  • Experience in mining machine guidance systems such as CAT Terrain or similar
  • Experience in mining fleet management systems such as Modular-Dispatch or similar
  • Knowledge of GPS systems
  • Ability to fault find and test of low voltage and network systems
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to use hand tools and install hardware
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
