Description

Primarily compile and use geospatial data to discover copper deposits. In team that develops, implements, coordinates, and maintains Exploration Geographic Information System. Assists with continued compilation of larger databases, and GIS projects across multiple departments.

Complete logging of drill samples, geologic mapping, sampling, and assist in the completion of resource block models.
  • Collaborates within a team of geologists in the completion of computerized resources.
  • Collaboration with other departments, helping them with putting GIS data to use for their work. Coordinates the procurement and storage of spatial geological data, with a priority to the collection of in-house historical and legacy data. Works and oversees on all aspects of digitizing, capturing, georeferencing analog or scanned data and images
  • Perform geologic mapping of surface and underground areas.
  • Integrate all geological data (e.g., rock type, alteration, structure, maps, reports), assay, and mineralogical data into geologic maps, databases.
  • Perform logging of core and reverse circulation drill cuttings.
  • Prepare and update GIS database, drill hole databases. Routinely georeferenced geological maps and other exploration-related maps.
  • WebMaps. Creation of WebMaps, and management of WebMaps and other GIS projects.
  • Work with a team of geologists in the completion of computerized resource block models that meet corporate modeling standards.
  • Assist with the Archive efforts to organize, scan, digitize exploration records.
  • Implement and expand use of hyperspectral satellite imagery to identify alteration mineral zoning for drill targeting across all mine sites, and beyond. Produce hyperspectral maps independently
  • Assist with the interpretation of all geological data (e.g., rock type, alteration and structure), assay, and mineralogical data.
  • Identify new tools, new software, and new methods to analyze and interpret geological data. Prepare and update drill hole database, maps of deposits and other exploration records.
  • Perform rock chip sampling or soil surveys.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or closely related field; with no experience necessary.
  • Experience in using GIS-related software.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work with multivariate geospatial or geoscientific data
  • Work experience related to porphyry copper deposits


Criteria/Conditions:
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $73,000-$100,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
