Job Summary:

We are looking for energetic and dynamic individuals to join our growing project team! San Nicolas is a large undeveloped copper-zinc VHMS deposit located in Zacatecas State in Central Mexico. The project has recently completed a Pre-feasibility Study and is advancing into Feasibility Study applying for major regulatory approvals. San Nicolas is committed to advancing the asset towards development, and we are hiring new team members to support engineering and permit-related activities leading up to a sanction decision for construction anticipated in 2024.

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environment Permitting Lead is responsible for managing and coordinating major environmental permitting projects and obtaining the necessary environmental assessment approvals and permits for the project. This role will work with the Environmental, Social, and Regulatory Affairs (SERA) teams to engage with communities of interest.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader who complies with and sponsors the company's environmental and health & safety standards and procedures.
  • Maintain and consistently demonstrate the company's commitment to protecting health, safety, environment, and the community (HSEC) as a core value.
  • Support the development of the SERA strategy.
  • Lead the strategy to obtain and maintain project approvals and the delivery of environmental and mining permits in the different stages of the project and the different government areas.
  • Participate in the administration of major environmental permitting projects to obtain necessary environmental assessments and environmental permit approvals in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist in advising project team members on permitting and environmental issues.
  • Manage of a team of interdisciplinary professionals.
  • Identify problems, recommend and implement changes in the strategic direction for obtaining permits.
  • Participate proactively and verify that the commitments required for the MIA-R and the various permits (CFE, CENACE, ETJ, INAH, Federal Causes, among others) are met.
  • Identify and mitigate permitting risks that may affect the project.
  • Communicate any information related to changes in the Company's legislation, regulations, and rules and interpret their application to the project.
  • Create and maintain effective relationships with the team, and stakeholders.
  • Review, prepare and deliver reports.
  • Participate in strategic technical reviews as required by the Company's interests.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.


Qualifications:

  • University degree in engineering, law, political science, environmental science or related field.
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of experience in permits related to the mining industry.
  • Knowledge and proven experience in participating in environmental impact assessments for mining projects or other natural resources through regulatory processes, knowledge of current environmental regulations.
  • Project management skills and technical background and permitting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people in a variety of roles and positions including senior government staff, technical staff, tradespeople, special interest groups. Excellent communication skills (i.e., written and verbal)
