Job description:

General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

As a key member of the Site Services team and reporting to the Superintendent Roads and Civil, the Supervisor is accountable for the effective and efficient operation, organising, and overseeing of all Road Construction and Road Maintenance operations in and around the Mine area. This includes Surfaced and Unsurfaced roads from San Benito Main Gate to the Port and Power plant areas. He is responsible to minimise costs and ensuring operational sustainability.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • Qualified Civil Engineer.
  • 5+ years of operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • 2+ years of road construction experience.
  • Extensive Knowledge of the processes involved in road construction and maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to resolve day-to-day challenges regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Strong leadership, management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other programs utilized for training tracking purposes.


Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Supervise, prepare, and organise road construction and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all routine tasks, including field check-sheets and equipment inspections are conducted in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Achieve daily targets of machine utilization for their area and ensure that crews are achieving productivity target for their area.
  • Identify and assist in implementing improvements to road construction and maintenance processes and techniques to optimise project objectives and targets and report on the outcomes.
  • Maximizing crew and employee performance and safety through training and matching of employee experience to daily equipment allocation and priorities.
  • Ensuring personnel, equipment and work areas are in compliance with all safety policies and regulations by providing required training, tools and monitoring.
  • Carry out regular routine site inspections to identify and rectify risks.
  • Developing and promoting a positive employee relations environment within the operations crew and across shifts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Complete shift and production reports in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Roads.

Operational Requirements

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.

  • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
