Position Overview

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) is seeking a Senior Piping Designer to join our Industrial Business Unit in the Mining, Minerals & Metals discipline. Become part of a global team of innovative and trusted professionals who provide process engineering input to the different sectors within a Consulting Engineering Environment.

The Senior Piping Designer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services and/or field support. The role will require the engineer to develop solutions in all areas of the process plant across various systems, unit operations and process equipment. Specific tasks include the development of process engineering deliverables; solutions to infield problems; and involvement in the execution and commissioning of these solutions.

Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.

Location

This position is based out of Lone Tree, CO and may require up to 25% travel on average based on project demands.

Responsibilities

• Provide design, coordination, and oversight of various piping systems typical for mineral processing plants, including, but not limited to, comminution, conveying systems, screening, solid/liquid separation, mixing/agitation, leaching, drying, pumping, dust collection, general plant/facility water, compressed air, and gas systems.
• Provides potential solutions to complex issues.
• Reviews the work of designers developing documents as needed for the project.
• Acts as a resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues.
• Possesses advanced AutoCAD skills and is able to design and draft advanced drawings.
• Proficient in 3D modeling with some supervision.
• Acts independently to utilize industry and company standards to design effectively. No supervision required to correctly apply standards to design.
• Reviews application of standards and make suggestions on needed improvements.
• Serves as a resource to department, projects and construction.
• Identifies changes in scope of work during small to mid-sized projects and produces drawing changes as needed to stay within budget and schedule.
• Balances individual performance requirements with the demands for team participation.
• Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize productivity.
• Review vendor documentation and comment as it applies to client and project needs.
• Complete as-builts by utilizing Request for Information (RFIs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and red-marked drawings from construction.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or High School diploma + 2 years' minimum experience.
• 15+ years of experience in Mineral Processing or closely related industry
• 10+ years' experience in increasingly challenging positions
• Self directs work with limited supervision.
• Provides guidance, leadership and training to less experienced designers.
• Leads small team to complete task/design on project.
• Work with project team as representative and coordinates work within discipline department.
• Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
• Communicates effectively with supervisor and members of immediate department.
• Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems.
• Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives.
• Serves as technical resource to engineers, designers and construction.
• Experience utilizing a computer-aided drafting program (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Navis Works) and have knowledge of the latest computer operating systems; thorough understanding of spreadsheets and databases.
• Experience with SmartPlant preferred.
• Continuously looking for ways to improve processes for customers and makes recommendations for improvements.

Base Compensation: $85,597 - $128,395
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
