Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Electrician will play a key role in maintaining the electrical systems on a wide range of equipment in the shop, field, or processing plant at the NewRange site.

To be successful, we're looking for a motivated teammate with strong communication skills who is comfortable performing maintenance tasks with limited direction. This role also requires the ability to perform labor intensive tasks and the willingness to work outdoors with the potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions.

Overview:

Located in the historic iron range mining region of northeastern Minnesota, NewRange is a joint venture between Teck American Inc. (Teck) and PolyMet Mining Corp (PolyMet) that is advancing two major copper-nickel-platinum-palladium deposits, NorthMet and Mesaba. Project activities range from readying the feasibility stage NorthMet project for a production decision pending clearance of mine permits to advancing the nearby Mesaba project to pre-feasibility studies and permitting. NewRange is committed to unlocking a new domestic supply chain of critical metals for the transition to a low-carbon economy and positioning Minnesota as a world leader in sustainable mineral resource development.

Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Construct, maintain, alter, repair, and test electric or electronic systems and components that are integral to the company's activities
• Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance on equipment to repairing major breakdowns in a shop or a field environment
• Complete installations, perform maintenance and troubleshoot in a processing plant
• Participate in property and departmental safety initiatives some of which include High Potential Risk Assessments and Job Safety Observations.
• Interact with a variety of employees on the property including engineering, trades, and supervision on methods, procedures, and hazards to coordinate the services of other trades and service personnel in the planning of their portion of the job; prioritizing work on a daily basis utilizing the Maintenance Work Order System; estimating material costs and labor hours on jobs and troubleshooting plant equipment
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and kept in a clean and orderly condition
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures (Mine Safety & Health Administration) and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Valid Master or Journeyperson Electrician certifications and licensed in the state of Minnesota
• Valid driver's license
• Proficient in distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controls (PLC), variable frequency drive (VFD), motor control center (MCC), and microprocessors
• Detailed understanding of the Electrical Code
• Advanced knowledge in motor controls/power distribution centers
• Advanced knowledge interrupting electrical schematics and prints
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Previous mining experience an asset
• Knowledge of Power distribution system and Substation operation
