Downer has a long history of delivering transport infrastructure projects under a variety of contracting models. Services include the design and construction of light rail, heavy rail, signalling, track and station works, rail safety technology, bridges and roads.

THE ROLE

A new role with excellent career opportunities is now available for a Contracts Manager to support the Infrastructure Projects Team based in Canning Vale, WA.

This role is responsible for the preparation and negotiation of all sub contract and supplier agreements including maintenance of a centralised contract database. The role will ensure that pre-contract commercial matters (both head contract and subcontract), are effectively managed in accordance with The Downer Standard (TDS).

You will develop, implement, and maintain a Procurement strategy in order to streamline sub-contractor and supplier networks and capitalise on Downer's buying power to ensure consistency across operations and projects.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Preparation and negotiation of all sub contract and supplier agreements including maintenance of a centralised contract database.
  • Provide contractual advice to both the pre and post contract Infrastructure Projects Teams.
  • Collaborate with project Commercial Managers and Senior Contract Administrator's.
  • Compliance with contractual obligations, regarding the serving of notices, payment processes, change notices etc., to mitigate the exposure of Downer to risk.
  • Conduct regular audits of projects to ensure that subcontracts are managed in accordance with Downer policies and procedures to optimise Downer's commercial position.
  • Where requested evaluate and propose options for settlement of subcontractor claims.
  • Ensure that the Downer approval process is followed and all necessary approvals are obtained.
  • Liaise with the Downer insurance department regarding project specific insurance requirements and insurance claims.

ABOUT YOU
  • Tertiary qualification or diploma in construction, quantity surveying, legal or a related discipline
  • Significant relevant experience in legal and / or commercial matters related to the construction industry
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of commercial, economic and business issues relating to the construction industry.
  • Experience with the preparation and administration of contractual aspects of contracts, subcontract award and administration and risk management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in order to meet strict deadlines.
