Job Title: Training Coordinator

Location: Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia

Schedule / Terms of Employment: This is a full-time permanent position.

Primary Purpose

The Training Coordinator will lead Company wide training initiatives in support of Operations, Plant, Maintenance, Environmental & Warehouse. They will lead the assessment of departmental training needs and development the implementation of training. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating Day 1 of our New Hire Orientation program. The role will also maintain our LMS (Learning Management System) across all sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participates and maintains a positive and supportive work culture.
  • Work directly with site leadership to schedule training and identify additional training opportunities.
  • Maintain site training records including an up to-date list of individual qualifications.
  • Conduct weekly new employee and contractor orientation programs. Completes all sign offs and documentation. Records electronically.
  • Works with all Department to organize and implement site training needs outside of equipment training such as Transportation of Dangerous Goods, First Aid or Investigative Techniques.
  • May identify external training programs or groups to address ongoing training needs or improvements to current programs.
  • Assists with development of training aids such as manuals and handbooks.
  • Facilitate learning based on site requirements through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, hands-on training, on-the-job coaching, and virtual or computer-based training.
  • Work with Company Training Manager to evaluate and continuously improve training material and methodology.
  • Maintain training equipment such as laptops, projectors and printers in good working order.
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment.
  • Support and maintain LMS systems across all sites. This includes, the upkeep of most recent training materials, as well as continuous improvement & development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Site equipment operation knowledge, as well as previous heavy equipment training is a strong asset.
  • Comfortable with managing a team.
  • Knowledge of adult instructional techniques and learning theory.
  • Familiar with training techniques and strategies.
  • Experience in an open pit mining environment is an asset.
  • Experience with LMS systems is required.
  • Familiar with equipment simulator systems considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Learning Management Systems, etc.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized and has attention to detail.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfortable with public speaking for large groups.
