Position Description:

Barrick is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Community Relations Specialist to support the Senior Community Relations Specialist to ensure effective engagement between all stakeholders at the Grants Reclamation Project (GRP) closure site. With oversight, t he successful candidate will support community engagement, property acquisition and management plus other activities to enable transparent and positive messaging related to reclamation and closure. The GRP site consists of a former uranium mill located 5 miles north of Milan, NM. The mill closed in the early 1990s and has been in reclamation ever since with ongoing groundwater treatment. Regulatory oversight is provided by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the New Mexico Environmental Department.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing the community engagement plan for the GRP project.
  • Participate in the engagement with local governmental and civic stakeholders.
  • Participate in quarterly neighborhood community meetings, assisting with planning and logistics.
  • Assist with property management, including scheduling maintenance, complaints, and notifications.
  • Assist with any CSR reporting as required.
  • Enter purchase requisitions, expenses, etc. as required to ensure timely payment to vendors.
  • Assist the Senior Community Relations Specialist with developing and maintaining stakeholder engagement plans.
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience related to community relations interaction, communications, required
  • Experience with Indigenous communities preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required
  • Strong computer skills including experience with PowerPoint, Word & Excel required
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
  • Ability to undertake regional travel as required
