PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
  • The Mine Operations Training Department Trainers are responsible for the technical training of the equipment operators in the pit including classroom and field training on all equipment, evaluation of safe work procedures and ensuring compliance with MSHA, State, and Company regulations, and providing support services to the Operations Department. This includes established criteria for heavy equipment operations: pre-operation inspections, efficient operating practices meeting operational standards.
  • All work must be completed in a safe and efficient manner while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect the company's values.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
  • Engage and coach current-future Equipment Operators in the improvement of all aspects of proper operation of the Equipment with regards to production improvement.
  • Promote, and develop as necessary, safe behaviors, work practices and work environments. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Support continuing development of RNMC's Culture.
  • Act as a resource to RNMC Mine Operations in fulfilling their training needs and assist other department personnel with training responsibilities.
  • Attend Mine Operations Safety/Line out meetings providing employees with updates of training and activities.
  • Provide written reports/statements when required.
  • Track and record training activities.
  • Proactively coordinate activities and resources in conjunction with other departments in order to comply with priorities and overall objectives of the mine and training plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of all mining-related activities.
  • Perform inspections on all Equipment as needed to ensure operating and maintenance standards are being met.
  • Assist Equipment operators and maintenance personnel when needed.
  • Assist Mine Operations in any extraneous Equipment projects as necessary.
  • The SR. Crew Trainer will assist in planning training activities for the crew assigned to. This will occur during the monthly meeting held with Training Supervisor and Crew Supervision.
  • Participate in training plan meeting with Supervision.
  • Operate equipment to allow other trainers to provide training to others on occasion
  • Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
  • High School Diploma or Equivlent.
  • Excellent attitude towards Safety and the continued success of RNMC.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Working knowledge of Mine Operations Equipment fleets including operating and maintaining such equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous heavy equipment experience.
  • Previous training experience.
  • Ability to manage sensitive/confidential information.
  • Ability to positively interact with people.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
  • (3-5) Years related operational experience, including supervisory or management experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Utilize the simulator to complete safety and training projects.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • May be required to attend off site training, conferences or other training related activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as a liaison between the Crew Supervision and the Training group.
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work.
    • Must be able to safely bend, lift, twist, reach, kneel, walk on uneven ground and sit for extended amounts of time when necessary.
    • Must be able to safely ascend and descend ladder and stairs.
    • Must be able to use proper body positioning while sitting in the cab of equipment.
