About this role

What will you be responsible for?

Under the direction of the Senior Tax Director, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing tax process improvements, handling data efficiently, and lead process transformation initiatives for both our domestic and international tax department. This will require a combination of technical tax expertise, as well as process and technology knowledge to deliver connected solutions.

• Supports and develops roadmaps for Tax innovation, technology, and methodologies globally.
• Assist with development of the global innovation program by leading future initiatives related to an agile Tax Department.
• Assist internal Tax Departments with efficient use of Alteryx, Macros and 3rd party Tax software.

Data Analytics and Innovation responsibilities:

• We drive efficiencies in the Tax Department by aligning data management and technology.
• This includes assisting internal Tax Departments with designing, creating, and implementing templates to centralize, standardize, automate and integrated tax data collection processes across the tax lifecycle.
• We consult with collaborators to understand operational processes and assist in making processes more effective through redesign/re-engineering.
• We translate business challenges into opportunities working with technology departments to implement solutions aligned to company objectives.
• We devise own methods to accomplish objectives while aligning with global Newmont policies and standards.
• We understand and communicate technical solutions to non-technical partners.
• We conduct training on existing and newly developed methodologies and solutions for the global Tax team.
• We provide support to the global Tax team in the use of analytics tools and other technology. This is including the use of Alteryx and Excel Macros and possibly Robotic Process Automation tools.
• We perform data analytics using data preparation, analysis and visualization tools and advanced analytics techniques to support Tax projects.
• We develop and support internal technology systems and applications for use by all Tax departments. This includes developing programs and applications that cater to the Tax department's strategic technology needs.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Business, or Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Data science, Statistics or related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years of a combination of corporate tax and tax technology experience gained in a well-regarded audit, tax or advisory services firm, corporation, or technology service provider.
• Experience working with ETL tools such as Alteryx and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
• CORPTAX (CORPTAX Certified Professional) and Alteryx Analytics Designer Core and Alteryx Designer Advanced is a plus.
• "Big Four" or equivalent experience is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to supervise interns and lead small projects.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills and strong attention to detail.
• Validated strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Team-player and motivated.
• Must have ability to efficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Alteryx applications.
• Current SAP knowledge and/or the mining industry a plus.

Working conditions and location

Where you will be located!

• The position is based in the Denver corporate office with a hybrid schedule of on-site and remote work.
• Position may be required to travel to domestic and international locations as sites require.
• Flexible work hours to ensure effective engagement with operational representatives.

The salary range offered for this role is $88,080 - 104,595. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont. This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
