Job description:

General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

The Dispatcher operates the fleet management system and other support systems to help ensure the safe execution of daily mine plans to deliver meet plant requirements on a shift-by-shift basis and monitors the overall health of production equipment and provide technical support to the Maintenance and Operations teams.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • A university degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Preferred 5 years' experience working in Mine Dispatcher role using one of the following Equipment Management software tools (Minestar, Modular, Wenco, Jigsaw, etc.)
  • Additional certifications or licenses appropriate to the job may be required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Familiarity with mine operations dispatch systems.
  • Strong communication, planning, problem solving, decision making, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to resolve day-to-day challenges regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Extensive knowledge of mining and processing operations.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other programs utilized for training tracking purposes.

Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables

  • Utilize the dispatch system to safely deliver a quality ore to the plant while meeting all environmental compliance metrics and material movement requirements in accordance with the weekly mine plan.
  • Monitors the overall condition of equipment and provides technical assistance to the Maintenance and Operations Group.
  • Capturing, validate and record mine site data through the Fleet Management System (FMS).
  • Monitors radio and dispatches field maintenance technicians.
  • Collects and analyses data using various predictive technologies.
  • Collect all data to help assist with a quick repair of the downed equipment.
  • Monitor dispatch data to ensure accuracy and provide feedback to Dispatch Engineer on any issues. Correct data as required and implement improvements within the system.
  • Ensuring personnel, equipment and work areas are in compliance with all safety policies and regulations by providing required training, tools and monitoring.
  • Provide a high degree of technical support in the following areas:
    • Lead and assist the development, implementation and monitoring of relevant mining and dispatch procedures, processes and technology to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the assets.
    • Continual improvement of the FMS and supporting systems in the mining environment by providing reliable and accurate maintenance knowledge, expertise and practical application, to minimise down time and subsequent loss of production.
    • Maximise return on assets through effective utilisation of the FMS systems.
    • To analyse data, identify issues and help to propose solutions.
    • Review and understand the mine's topographical map and mine plan.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Operational Requirements

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
  • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
  • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
