Due to our ongoing expansion we are now seeking an experienced Systems Engineer and Assurance Manager to join our highly regarded and progressive Rail Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance Team based in Melbourne VIC to help build sustainable, long lasting infrastructure solutions across Australia.

You will be part of a highly skilled and dynamic Rail Systems Engineering team of over 200 staff nationally where you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and have a major impact on Rail Systems projects across Australia and New Zealand. Your on-going career development will be supported by our experienced senior leadership team and principal systems engineers who are widely known in the industry and highly regarded.

About You:

• Engineering or related qualifications
• 12+ years experience post degree completion
• 10+ years relevant experience in leading engineering teams, preferably with recent experience in the rail sector
• Strong communication skills
• Project Management and its application within a construction organisation and understand the importance and requirement to complete projects to time, budget and quality parameters.
• Leadership skills will also be key as will a passion for customer focused outcomes, driving safety, quality and sustainability, along with the ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, and a collaborative nature. Both are key with engaging with multiple internal, external and client stakeholder groups
• Strong understanding of all aspects project delivery, including contractual structures and management
• Experience with end-to-end delivery of large infrastructure projects including operator involvement and whole-of-life considerations through design and delivery into operations
• Ensure that designs are optimised to minimise overall cost and assess product cost in relation to project budgets during the design process.
• High level of understanding of systems engineering process
• High level understanding of rail system safety assurance including process to SFAIRP and development of safety cases.
• Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders and manage associated expectations and work priorities
• Manage and support technical assurance activities including system review and regulatory compliance
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Mature, proactive, resourceful, hands-on with good initiatives and ability to leverage organisational resources
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and meticulous
• Able to work fast under pressure and willing to make tough decisions
