The Position
Mine Planner - EMILI Project

Job Summary

Part of the Business Area Performance Minerals EMEA Project EMILI team. PM EMEA industrial footprint: 80 sites in 24 countries - 3700 employees - €1.2b revenue. PM EMEA mining footprint: 35 extractive sites in 11 countries.

The project is located at Imerys' Beauvoir site in France (Allier). The role will be based on site.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design the Project's mining operations including:
  • Current kaolin operations, open pit and stockpiles
  • Infrastructure, roads and site access, water management
  • Assist with the development of the planned underground operations, including:
  • Exploration galleries and stockpiles
  • Main project: capital and operational development, production, and ventilation
  • Elaborate, schedule, challenge and mitigate mine plans based on technical and financial parameters (1 to 5 years)
  • Implement, survey and audit planned scenarios. Track performance and propose corrective action plans for identified deviations
  • Define and maintain industry best practices in underground mining including geotechnical and hydrogeological aspects
  • Work with consultants to ensure technically robust solutions
  • Management of data and technical reporting
  • Interface with other workstreams, notably process, engineering, permitting and environment; Presentations to and liaising with other project stakeholders


COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

Key competencies

  • Health and Safety - commitment and leadership
  • Mine Planning - development of mine plans, designs, schedules, etc., for underground and open pit mines. UG stope optimization practices, open pit optimization. Waste dump design and scheduling.
  • Mining Studies - Integration and technical awareness of other mining technical disciplines, notably: geology & resource modelling, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, tailings and mining waste management.
  • Technical Reporting - competence in writing technical reports in support of Mineral Reserves
  • Communication & relationships - both technical and non-technical subjects to a wide range of stakeholders, both verbally and written. Able to establish relationships and facilitate work through peers, superiors, and colleagues.
  • Consultant Management - being able to work with external consultants to deliver on-time and on specification deliverables
  • Self-motivating - driven, organised, ability to take personal responsibility whilst being able to receive feedback and strive for improvement and development
  • English - at operational level
  • French - at operational level
  • Analytical and rigorous - specifically in areas of data collection and management
  • Software - functional ability with at least one mine planning software package alongside standard business packages


Ideal background/ experience

Experienced mining professional, working as a mine planner with experience in survey and designing. Preference for significant open pit experience, some knowledge of underground (bulk mining) would be considered beneficial.

Typical profile

  • Mining engineer or mine geologist
  • 10 years' experience with high levels of exposure to industry best practices within the metals sector
