About this role

What will you be responsible for?

Provide legal counsel, advice, and support to the Company on a variety of commercial transactional matters including contracts, legal research and a variety of other matters as assigned. Provide primary legal support for the Supply Chain, Technical Services, and Intellectual Property functions, while also supporting Facilities, Projects and many other corporate functions with contractual needs.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

• We provide in-house legal counsel to the Company on commercial legal matters. Primary responsibilities will include negotiating and drafting agreements for various departments, but primarily supporting the Supply Chain and Technical Services functions. Inform, influence, and engage executives and employees on legal trends and legislative changes that could affect the Company's contracting standards, processes, and procedures.
• We provide strategic advice on Intellectual Property approaches and direct outside counsel on how best to implement the Company's vision. Manage Company's portfolio of intellectual property, including patents and trademarks. Draft, review, and advise on vendor and third-party contracts related to intellectual property and associated licensing matters and potential disputes. Review and support intellectual property issues related to employee developed or owned IP.
• We serve as an internal resource on legal claims and disputes relating to technology contracts, including licensing disputes and software audits.
• We work with the Assistant General Counsel - Transactions and Privacy and our regional legal teams to develop and maintain the Company's global contracting templates.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

Education:

J.D. Degree and current license to practice law in Colorado required.

Experience:

At least five years of transactional and contracting experience in a prominent Denver or national law firm or as in-house counsel at a mining company or multi-national corporation.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of commercial law (e.g., CO, UCC) and expertise with contract law.
• Confirmed experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Familiarity with mining, a significant plus.
• Sound business acumen and good interpersonal skills.
• Shown ability to prioritize and handle workload.
• Ability to work independently with little oversight.

• The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
• Position may be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites.

The salary range offered for this role is $131,000 - 160,000. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont. This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
