Teck is looking for a skilled leader to join our team at Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes with a strong union presence.

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Superintendent, Human Resource Planning and Talent Management provides a high level of expertise and hands-on guidance in the management and execution of HR programs including workforce planning, talent and performance management, leadership planning, recruitment as well as disability management for Trail Operations.

We are looking for a strategic, collaborative and results-focused leader with excellent analytical and reporting skills committed to business partnering and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Create and implement workforce and talent management strategies to support long term business objectives
  • Serve as a strategic advisor regarding key organization and management decisions
  • Lead all workforce planning activities providing analysis and guidance to leaders
  • Supervise all aspects of Talent Management including succession planning, recruitment, career progression programs, performance management and disability management
  • Manage total rewards administration including annual salary and bonus plan reviews and payments for staff employees, various pension and benefits programs as well as unionized wage and salary scales
  • Assist in the administration of collective agreements and letters of understanding ensuring accurate interpretation while maintaining good working relationships with Union officials
  • Responsible for HR information systems as well as the implementation of the enterprise wide HRIS
  • Prepare annual budget and actuals
  • Drive improvements and standard processes setting performance metrics and ensuring they are met
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to team members promoting a working culture aligned to our values: Responsible and Courageous, Respectful and Inclusive, and Humble and Driven


Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in human resources preferably in an industrial environment
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field required
  • Experience in a union environment required
  • CHRP or CHRL designation preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable HR statutes and regulations, labour code, employment, human rights and privacy jurisprudence.
  • Excellent computer, reporting and analytical skills required
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities a must
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to cultivate a culture of collaboration and company
