About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Contracts and Procurement Manager to join the Centerra Corporate team. This position is a hybrid role based at our Toronto, ON office.

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, you will be responsible for leading the core supply chain processes for Centerra and certain subsidiaries. This includes the development and execution of complex contracts in alignment with Centerra's Global Procurement Policy.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensuring the fulfillment of Centerra's sourcing and procurement needs, achieving cost-effective and timely delivery in line with goals and Centerra values
  • Guaranteeing compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, company policies, and procedures in all Supply Chain activities, including environmental and social responsibility
  • Engaging with key client executives and establishing and nurturing robust working relationships with internal clients to ensure their satisfaction
  • Establishing competent and qualified subordinates/managers to oversee all Supply Chain functions in the short, medium, and long term
  • Crafting legally binding contracts, agreements, purchase orders, and/or subcontracts for services and materials, employing industry best practices and adhering to Centerra's Global Procurement policy
  • Providing ongoing contract administration support, managing and overseeing the entire procurement and contracts lifecycle, including maintaining a contract registry to track contract status, expiry dates, and exceedances
  • Offering guidance on contract formation and/or contract administration processes as requested by staff and sites/internal clients
  • Evaluating, assessing, and interpreting contract or agreement terms and conditions, and suggesting alternative language, solutions, and approaches to address supplier risk, compliance, or performance issues, as necessary
  • Developing a program for managing vendors and determining suitable key performance indicators to assess vendor performance against objectives
  • Creating, issuing, and managing tender documents (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, etc.)
  • Negotiating commercial terms, ensuring they align with the business requirements
  • Leading the analysis of proposals and conducting evaluations of commercial aspects
  • Coordinating comprehensive RFP evaluations with project clients
  • Ensuring quality assurance and oversight of global contract and procurement-related functions by assessing and identifying gaps in contracts, policies, procedures, business systems, processes, or tools, and recommending and implementing updates and improvements to enhance organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and standardization
  • Supporting the ongoing Centerra procurement process by providing guidance and facilitating the creation and approval of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and other essential supply chain documents for products and services


About You

To qualify, you must have post-secondary education in business, finance, or law. Supply Chain or related designation is considered an asset. You will also join us with at least 8 years of experience in contract management and administration with previous experience in mining.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • Advanced knowledge and experience within the purchasing/contracting functions
  • Strong negotiation, oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing in a multi-jurisdictional company
  • Experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with Impact Benefit Agreements
  • Results-oriented to ensure prioritization and focus on accountability and results
  • Ability to build and foster positive relationships with all levels within the company and external vendors and stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude, and ability to give direction
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset
