Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Electrical Coordinator (Site) with extensive experience in the mining industry to join our construction team on a project near Gogama, Ontario, Canada.

Accountabilities for this position include:
  • Perform system final inspections based on scoped P&IDs, SLDs, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Conducting area walk-downs to assess installation readiness and identify work to completion and construction deficiencies.
  • Familiar with CSA codes and standards and the OESC.
  • Able to read and understand electrical termination and testing reports.
  • Daily field inspection and associated reports.
  • Site orientation of quality requirements for all electricians and electrical foremen conducting Quality Audits on construction activities as detailed in the (site) Quality Audit Plan.
  • Monitor compliance of consumable material supply and storage.
  • Monitor equipment and materials to ensure suitability and compliance to requirements.
  • Support technical expertise .
  • Witness field test, write quality surveillance report (QSR), and follow up to ensure compliance with ITPs.
  • Conducting quality audits on construction activities as detailed in the Site Quality Audit Plan:
    • NCR (Non-Conformance Report)
    • CAR (Corrective Action Report)
    • PAR (Preventive Action Report)
  • Input / feedback / recommendations on practical aspects of quality plans and procedures.
  • Input into final check-offs and acceptance requirements for turnover purposes.
  • Research and identification of specifications, procedures, vendor and contractual information, site construction quality requirements.
  • Regular communication / work collaboratively with construction team.
  • Support construction partners QC representatives in the witness / inspection / testing of systems and equipment.
  • Regular communication / work collaboratively with Safety Codes Officers.
  • Support Contract Administrators and Area Managers through recommendations on issues and concerns regarding the performance of contracted work.
  • Review and respond to QAQC RFIs and other QAQC correspondences from the contractors.
  • Quality control of EPC construction, general contractor's work including, but not limited to:
    • Review and approval of quality related submittals.
    • Updating of punch lists
    • Follow-up on corrective action.
  • Care, custody and control of QA documentation to verify quality construction activities and installations.
  • Reviewing and processing "As-Built" records.
  • Provide support, "As-built" drawing review, and turnover for civil, structural, and architectural completions.
  • Steward receipt and storage of materials and equipment as well as preservation and maintenance of same.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' post-graduation experience
  • Minimum of 2 years site experience in the mining industry
  • Specific experience in Canadian mining projects is desirable
  • Should be fully conversant with ISO 9001 and Quality System standards applicable for the projects in the mining industry
  • Experience in conducting quality audits- including compliance audits, vendor assessments etc.
  • Should be able to develop quality plans, ITPs and other related QA/QC systems and procedures for projects.
  • Must have worked in CM / QA position for Engineering Contractor / Consultant / Owner organization engaged in mining EPCM projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate to all levels of employees, including customers and suppliers
  • Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
