Description

Under close supervision, performs routine SX/EW and Leach testing functions. Duties include but are not limited to data collection, sample collection and preparation; mine site support and assist in the development and optimization of site processes.

  • Collect data and samples, which may include traveling to mine sites
  • Prepare samples for analysis and run tests using appropriate established techniques and methods
  • Set-up of instruments and equipment
  • Responsible for performing inspections and audits, including but not limited to: work place inspections, safety related inspections, ISO audits and complete documentation as required
  • Operate mobile equipment, including but not limited to: forklifts, overhead crane, loaders, skid steers
  • Train and mentor other employees
  • May assist in maintaining laboratory/field instrumentation and equipment; diagnose problems, calibrate and retest as appropriate; ensure lab has appropriate supplies for operation
  • May compile, assign, track, ship and receive materials
  • May lead site audits and other site support projects as required
  • May be involved in project planning and execution of project(s)
  • May enter data into spreadsheets/databases
  • Follow and understand MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations, Environmental rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work area instructions
  • Participate in safety and environmental activities
  • Use plant and laboratory equipment correctly at all times
  • Perform housekeeping and other duties as required


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year of direct lab experience, OR
  • Associates related degree, which includes six (6) months of related lab experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Knowledge of lab equipment, lab protocols and techniques appropriate to assigned areas
  • Ability to train others in particular area of lab/tasks


Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Proficiency using MS Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports and other documentation
  • SX/EW and Leaching experience
  • Mobile equipment experience
  • Overhead crane experience
  • Experience with mathematic and/or numbers based tasks
  • Experience with chemical sample preparation and/or analysis
  • Ability to follow detailed, technical instructions
  • Experience with tedious or repetitive motions or tasks
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel to mine sites with occasional overnight stay
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001/EMS 14001/OHSAS 18001 environment


Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Ability to travel to mine sites with occasional overnight stay
  • Work is in an outdoor, laboratory or mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift, push, pull or maneuver moderately heavy objects (up to 40 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Compensation:

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $22.00 - $30.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
