The Role

We are now seeking for an experienced for a Specialist - Technical Training & Continuous Improvement, the successful candidate will have to provide manage the departments training and BI progress to enable the department personnel to function in a safe, effective, and efficient manner so as to deliver minimum interruption to our customers. He/she will also deliver training, for example site specific inductions. Technical writing, supporting the training documentation and other procedures.

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Support the Power and Utilities, Reliability, Maintenance and Operations teams by ensuring training is carried out within appropriate timeframes and to applicable standards. Mentoring team members to increase skill development. Implement preventative maintenance systems that maximise availability of Power, Steam and Water supplies. Establish relationships with plant OEM's and specialist contractors to ensure planned services are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all Power and Utilities, Reliability, Maintenance and Operations teams activities meet the company's business needs and consistently achieve high standards of occupational health, safety, and environment awareness.
  • Meet or exceed environmental standards, by carrying out all tasks to (NML) requirements and reporting any deviations.
  • Provide technical knowledge in the form of standard operating procedure creation (SOP), work task descriptions and procedure updates, assist with improvement projects and provide guidance during employee development.
  • Provide trending and other data to support the team's continuous improvement journey.
  • Lead and support investigations
  • Drives and influences proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership.
  • Ensures all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and hold people accountable for adherence.
  • Plans work so that it can be conducted safely; and considers environmental conditions, nearby activities, and the people and other resources needed to complete the work.
  • Develops short to mid-term plans, tasks, and actions to achieve business performance goals within resourcing, timeline & budget constraints whilst monitoring progress and solving problems as they occur.
  • Effectively manages costs within team's business area including participation in the budgeting process, financial analysis & cost benefit assessments.

Essential criteria
  • Relevant trades qualification or certification.
  • 7+ years relevant work experience essential.
  • Previous exposure to electrical and instrumentation equipment including analyzers (total hydrocarbon, gas chromatograph) associated with ASU facility.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
  • Able to read and understand complex schematic drawings and P&ID's.
  • Strong fault finding/trouble shooting capabilities.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & train

Desirable criteria
  • PNG Driver's License
  • Certificate in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar

The Requirements
  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
