Job description:

Purpose

Provide maintenance planning and participate in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Constantly review and update predictive and preventative maintenance plans, maintain CMMS, so that it is up to date. Ensure that needed parts are available when needed. Participate in the planning, coordination and execution of scheduled shutdowns.

Key Accountabilities and Challenges

· Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.

· Develop standard safe working procedures and actively participate in HSE initiatives.

· Carry out formal workplace inspections on a routine basis.

· Ensure employees work in compliance with H&S (e.g. isolation, lock out and tag out), quality and environmental standards and procedures.

· Manage and coordinate daily corrective actions.

· Enforce housekeeping standards in all designated work areas.

· Set up planning, reliability and design functions for plant maintenance.

· Assist with the implementation of JDEdwards CMMS module and creating a maintenance strategy for the metallurgical process plant.

· Daily integration with Plant Supervisors/ Superintendents

· Work with Supervisors and Superintendents (Planning, Engineering & Plant) to ensure that plant equipment of a metallurgical process plant is maintained according to SOPs (and that all machinery/ equipment is maintained according to supplier recommendation and industry best practices) by providing adequate work planning.

· Ensure that all plant preventive and predictive maintenance plans are in accordance with the needs of the operation that activities are planned and scheduled via a computerized maintenance management system

· Ensure that necessary parts are available when needed

· Provide technical support for the mechanical maintenance personnel on a daily basis to maximize production and efficiencies and optimize costs.

· Participate report on maintenance activities and performance indicators

· Provide input to weekly, Monthly and Yearly look ahead plan

· Continuously improve work plans based on information from field supervisors and superintendents including developing PM tasks and bill of materials.

· Participate to shutdown planning so that plant availability is maximized and contractor resources is minimized and ensure that in-house resources are fully utilized.

· Participate to shutdown execution by supervising some of the tasks on own area of responsibility

· Collect data from work execution times and report them accordingly

· Evaluate plant performance to identify and initiate development opportunities

· Review plant design for debottlenecking and efficiency/ operability improvement and provide financial justification for related capital projects.

· Promote a positive employee environment ensuring a continuation of a solid working relationship with all employees.

· Control, report and reduce operational costs.

· Act as deputy for colleagues as required.

· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Specialist Planning Engineer

Skills, Knowledge & Experience · Education
· A Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering Degree or related Trade Certificate to Heavy Fixed Plant Maintenance Equipment

· Knowledge of JDEdwards CMMS.

· Skills

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong drive and personal sense of ownership and accountability.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment;

· Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

· Experience

· Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a maintenance role.

· 12 months' experience in maintenance planning.

· Language

Strong English and Spanish language skills preferred.

Working Conditions
Cobre Panama is a remote site and the position is offered as Residential or FIFO with a preference for residential.
