Job description:

General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)

Reporting to the Specialist Reliability, the Technician Lubrication is responsible for equipment lubrication, contamination control, inspection, and proactive maintenance activities for all lubricated mechanical systems.

Qualifications (required for job) & Knowledge & Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a machine lubrication, engineering, mechanical maintenance and/or related trade
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction,multiplication, division, percentages).
  • Strong mechanical understanding of equipment.
  • Basic computer literacy, including the capability to operate standard email,
  • spreadsheet, word processing and moderately complex software, and employ
  • web-based programs, including those used for lubrication scheduling and oil
  • analysis functions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English highly regarded.

Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables

  • Operate within and observe all relevant and applicable laws of Panama.
  • Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the work area.
  • Carry out formal workplace inspections on a routine basis.
  • Enforce housekeeping standards in all designated work areas.
  • Coordination of required supplies and routine ordering of products at inventory locations.
  • Use of tools and equipment for routine and non-routine lubrication functions.
  • Draining and cleaning of reservoirs.
  • Mechanical modification of systems as directed to facilitate sampling andfiltration, and other proactive improvements.
  • Fill and maintain level on reservoirs.
  • Change filters and breathers on reservoirs as required.
  • Operate filtration equipment.
  • Grease relubrication with manual and automatic dispensing equipment.
  • Maintain dispensing equipment and automatic systems.
  • Label and tag reservoirs, equipment, inventory and delivery containers.
  • Print and complete planned lubrication activities.
  • Update scheduling systems, add notes to system and request work orders for maintenance repairs and activities.
  • Perform field level oil analysis, including (e.g.) Crackle, Viscosity and Blotter Test, as required.
  • Schedule, collect, label and mail samples with requisite details, for analysis.
  • Perform basic evaluation of oil analysis results and recommend current and future maintenance actions.
  • Troubleshoot common lubrication-related procedural and equipment problems.
  • Assist and/or carry out logistical activities, such as transportation and/or driving of vehicles, personnel, materials, equipment and supplies to and from work areas, camps and other company facilities, as required by the supervisor.
  • Monitor equipment during work activities and report in writing to supervisor any discrepancies or conditions that require corrective, predictive or planned maintenance for production systems.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Operational Requirements

Cobre Panama is a remote site. This exciting position is based on-site and will be focusing on driving and delivering operational accountability and ownership across various units at Cobre Panama site. Rosters and working hours may vary depending on business requirements.

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Comply with current environmental regulations in Panama
  • Comply with the commitments contained in the Environmental Impact Studies and other additional studies in this regard, which apply to your area and activities.
  • Comply with the provisions of the Minera Panama Environmental Management System.
