Driller - Red Dog Mine, AK - RotationalDescriptionSummaryThe Driller is responsible for leading various tasks including maintaining and operating the drilling rigs and equipment at various sites.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate diamond core drills to bore into surface and subsurface land.
  • Calibrate machine and select drill according to job.
  • Start and stop drilling motion.
  • Position machine and drill rods.
  • Drill blast holes in open-pit mines and quarries.
  • Operate skid mounted or helicopter supported drilling machines.
  • Measure locations and ensure safe drilling can be achieved.
  • Read instructions and diagrams.
  • Remove core samples during mineral exploration or soil testing.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience transporting drills with helicopters.
  • MSHA Certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in directly related position required.
  • Ability to work in remote areas under difficult conditions.
  • Ability to take and pass a pre-employment UA drug test required.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
