Spotless (a Downer Company) has the contract with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for Facilities Maintenance and Management at four main bases: Linton Military Camp, RNZAF Base Ohakea, Burnham Military Camp and Waiouru Military Training Area, the National Army Museum, and several satellite sites where we deliver a suite of services to support Defence capability.

We currently have an opportunity for a Grounds Person to be based at Burnham Military Camp.

As a Grounds Person you will:

• Be looking after the amenity and high-profile gardens on our contracts
• Need to ensure that high quality, timely and planned service is delivered within the required timeframes.
• Also ensure a high level of safety is adhered to in order to protect the public, other team members, and yourself.

Nga pukenga matua | Important Skills

We are looking for a team member who has prior work experience or loves ride on mowing, weed spraying with some line trimming and push mowing. You must also have great honest work ethic along with the following:

• Gardening experience an advantage but training can be given
• Mowing experience an advantage but training can be given
• Growsafe certification an advantage, but training can be given
• Familiar with electronic data entry or computer experience an advantage
• Minimum Full Class 1 Drivers Licence - Class 2 is preferable
• Great communication skills and experience dealing with customers
• Ability to work unsupervised but also as part of a wider team environment
• A commitment to safe work practices is essential
• Skill sets that you think can benefit our team
• Willingness to learn and help the wider team where required
• Takes pride in your work!

This role would suit someone who enjoys an outdoor lifestyle as it has easy access to fishing, skiing, camping and tramping!
