Our Environmental Services Group (ESG) provides our clients with expertise in climate change , environmental assessment & management, noise & vibration, social impact management, sustainable development design, and water resources. With your help, we can build extraordinary things that co-exist, and benefit local communities and habitats.

The primary objectives of this role are to:
  • Take a leading role in delivery of Hatch's sustainability service offering.
  • Ensure high quality strategic and operational sustainability results are provided to project teams clients.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across a broad range of sustainability topics.
  • Build client and internal relationships as a trusted advisor.


The achievement of these objectives will be assisted by a passion for sustainability supported by strong communication and collaboration skills and taking an innovative approach to finding solutions to challenging issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight to major projects, clients and multi-disciplinary project teams on a range of sustainability topics.
  • Provide ongoing technical support in a range of settings to meet relevant sustainability objectives and obligations by:
    • Identify and implement sustainability initiatives.
    • Apply circular economy principles to optimise the resources and materials.
    • Promote awareness of climate risk issues and climate resilient design practices.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce energy intensity and embodied carbon emissions.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory or contractual sustainability requirements.
    • Manage submissions in alignment with global or local sustainability frameworks including UN SDGs, IFC, SBTi, GRI, DJSI and SASB.
    • Manage the delivery of Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) Design and As Built ratings or other industry specific ratings.
    • Work collaboratively with key project functions to implement sustainability requirements.
  • Manage sustainability related project deliverables including Design Reports and Management Plans against agreed milestones.
  • Strengthen key client relationships through timely and high quality advice and services.
  • Provide expert advice on relevant regulatory requirements, legislation, sustainability frameworks and industry best practice.
  • Be a key influencer for a positive and proactive environmental and sustainability culture.
  • Lead the development and implementation of sustainability management systems.
  • Lead sustainability knowledge sharing initiatives across the business.
  • Co-ordinate and mentor environmental and sustainability staff.


Experience and Education
  • Degree in sustainability, engineering, environmental engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 12-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with delivering sustainability services to major projects.
  • Proven ability to identify, evaluate and implement sustainability opportunities.
  • An ISAP certification and experience delivering ISC Ratings would be highly regarded.
