Coeur Mining, Inc. is a U.S.-based, well-diversified, growing precious metals producer with four wholly-owned operations: the Palmarejo silver-gold complex in Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. In addition, the Company wholly-owns the Silvertip silver-zinc-lead development project in British Columbia and has interests in several precious metals exploration projects throughout North America.

Coeur Alaska, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining, Inc., is seeking a Senior Mine Engineer for the underground Kensington Mine. The Senior Engineer will be involved in supervising the development of weekly mine plans, stope drill and blast packages, plan reconciliations, backfill designs, and operations support. The Senior Mine Engineer will also assist in the yearly reserve and budget creation. There are several distinct ore bodies on the property which are steep, to sub-vertical dipping series of complex stacked shear veins in the host Diorite, containing quartz filled ore structures. This position is preferred to be Juneau-based, working Monday-Thursday; however, a 15-day on and 13-days off camp-based job at the mine would be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Short Range and Mid-Range planning engineers that provide engineering technical support to mine operations and other groups as required.
  • Provide oversight for ventilation, paste backfill, site water balance, drill and blast design, ground support, surface stockpile, and waste dump management.
  • Mentor and grow junior engineers through strong and inclusive leadership.
  • Conceive and implement Business Improvement initiatives.
  • Reporting activities: plan compliance, tracking various key activities including drilling, mucking, blasting, filling, and reconciliations.
  • Regular coordination with Management, Operations, Geology, and Survey groups to implement the weekly and monthly plan.
  • Assist with complex projects, including estimation of capital and operating costs, mine infrastructure changes, strategic planning, reserve estimation, and budget creation.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • Ability to work safely and promote safe behavior in others.
  • B.S in Mining Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years of progressive mine engineering experience, underground hard rock mining environment preferred.
  • Previous supervision of technical staff.
  • Knowledge of planning, sequencing, ventilation, rock mechanics, long hole drill and blast design, stope reconciliations, paste backfill, etc.
  • The ability to follow complex written and oral instructions, with sound knowledge of mining methods, costs, and productivity is required. Strong verbal and written communications skills are critical to this position.
  • Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, and Microsoft Office computer software greatly desired.
  • Sets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountability.
  • Preference given to Alaskan residents.
