About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Global Exploration Information Manager to join the Centerra Corporate team. This position is a hybrid role based at our Toronto, ON office.

Reporting to the Vice President Exploration, the Global Exploration Information Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and support for all facets of geological information and related workflows for Centerra's Global Exploration Team. The Global Exploration Information Manager provides guidance and develops systems for the Global Exploration Team for geological & exploration technical workflows; from data capture, information management, dissemination, integration, and analysis for integrated data driven decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintaining connections, accessibility, integrity, and efficiency of all the data contained within the exploration data architecture
  • Developing long-term strategies to manage, integrate and disseminate geoscience data for continuous improvement, quality control and effective analysis and reporting by exploration teams and other stakeholders
  • Providing leadership in development and implementation of standard practices in the capture, maintenance, and integrity of all forms of geologic data to optimize the effectiveness of exploration programs
  • Acting as the primary liaison and contact with Exploration Managers and other key stakeholders regarding all matters relating to the collection, management, and dissemination of geoscience data
  • Advising, guiding, and collaborating with the global exploration team for all geospatial data requirements. Acquiring, managing, screening for and maintain links with external and internal geoscience data source providers for the exploration team
  • Collaborating and communicating with the Centerra IT department to ensure infrastructure, hardware, and software meet the requirements of the exploration team
  • Managing hardware and software requirements, licensing, upgrades, user access and remote connections for the exploration team
  • Developing, disseminating, and maintaining tools and systems that enhance the accessibility, synthesis, and utilization of geologic data for all users
  • Maintaining protocols and procedures for system implementation, best practices, connectivity, data storage, and backup protocols
  • Leading the global exploration team in the design and implementation of workflow routines, quality control and procedures for drill hole logging, sampling, data capture and management, and file storage. Ensuring the use of appropriate methodology and sound principles in data collection
  • Developing, initiating, and/or leading continuous improvement activities, training programs and discussions to promote standardization, software proficiency, and inform all involved on project updates


About You

To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth sciences field or GIS/geomatics, along with 10+ years of relevant mining/exploration industry experience.

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • Formal training in geological modelling, Geoscientific Information Management, GIS and other data related disciplines
  • Experience in the design and management of new data architectures (hardware, software and protocols)
  • Experience in advanced GIS techniques to analyze and interpret geoscience datasets
  • Experience and expertise with SQL databases (development, implementation, management)
  • Experience in acQuire GIMS & Arena practitioner (ACQ2000) certification
  • Extensive experience in exploration geoscience and/or geoscientific data applications and detailed understanding of the workflows and information infrastructures that support them
  • Management of multidisciplinary teams for the development of complex new systems, processes, and instrumentation
  • Advanced skills in quantitative geoscience applications include modelling, GIS analysis, database design and management
  • Knowledge and expertise with exploration geoscience, geospatial/GIS, and data management applications (i.e. ArcGIS, AGOL, Geosoft, Target, Discover Leapfrog, relational geodatabases, SharePoint)
  • Solid skills with ESRI Desktop and online applications (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ESRI mobile applications, AGOL, Dashboards, Webapps, ArcGIS Enterprise)
  • Robust knowledge of data management and governance principles and systems; comprehensive knowledge of the acQuire GIMS data model, functions, and views
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relational server-based SQL databases and data management, ability to write T-SQL queries to import, extract, and report data
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server best practices and maintenance; advanced computer skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug database, software, and connectivity issues
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate
    with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong network to key service providers, geoscience agencies and geosciences applications globally
