About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a full-time Superintendent, Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Engineering to join our Mount Milligan Mine operations site.

This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 4 days on / 3 days off schedule.

Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, the Superintendent, TSF Engineering's key objective is to develop, manage, and support projects related to the Tailings Storage Facility .

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Being accountable for technical oversight of the Tailings Storage Facility including; site investigations, site monitoring activities, site water balance, TSF QA/QC and deposition plans
  • Coordinating TSF & associated infrastructure monitoring activities with Environment, Site Projects team, Mine Operations, Mill Operations and Maintenance, Regulators and external consultants
  • Managing resources to ensure project goals, scope and deliverables are met on time and on budget
  • Overseeing site geotechnical team


About You

To qualify, you must have 10+ years of experience related to tailings dam engineering and construction, with a minimum of 2 years in supervisory roles. You will also need a Bachelors' degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil engineering, or Mining Engineering, and be licensed or eligible to be licensed as Professional Engineer with EGBC .

T he following skills and experiences will also be critical to successfully performing this role:
  • Strong focus on safety, quality assurance, and quality control
  • Strong understanding of project management
  • Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills

Strong understanding of geotechnical and/or hydrogeology would be an asset.
