The Role

The Commercial Finance Manager is an integral part of the Downer Rail and Transit Systems (RTS) and form part of the QTMP Project Team, this role will partner with the operations teams and the GM Commercial to provide strong financial management and business insights.

This role will be initially based in Maryborough and upon completion of a new start of the art manufacturing facility that will be based in Torbanlea.

This position will have primary responsibility for the financial management of the profit & loss, major capital expenditure programs and multiple major rolling stock overhaul programs. The team is in the early stages of creation, with enthusiastic, passionate members and led by a personable Commercial Finance General Manager, who doesn't micro-manage and will provide freedom to encourage change and challenge the norm.

This is a pivotal role for the business, where you will working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across a landmark project for Queensland including internal and external contractors and functions.

You will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of driving successful commercial and financial outcomes for the business by ensuring profitable terms and the minimisation of risk through effective contract management. You will also focus the commercial and financial delivery of a large manufacturing process to ensure to maximize profit and improve gross margin on site project delivery

Your Responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret financial reports and analysis prepared by the Project Accountants for the Commercial Finance GM's use
• Management of small finance team and to review team dynamics for future sucess
• Analyse, interpret and report on financial and operational performance, seeking to identify and realise all opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with the preparation of divisional reporting, budgeting and forecasting in line with prescribed Downer RTS and Downer Group formats and methodologies
• Provide input into the Business Unit's strategic decision making process through the financial evaluation of strategic opportunities
• Improving processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness

About You

• Tertiary Accounting qualifications & CA/CPA or similar
• 5 -7 years' experience in a similar Commercial and or Finance Manager role within the manufacturing environment (*essential)
• Proven experience managing a small team; coaching and mentoring skills
• Advanced Excel skills: report development and management
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a changing environment is essential, due to commencement of large scale Project
