This position is located at our Penhorwood Site which is located approximately 70km west of Timmins towards Foleyet and requires daily travel for scheduled shifts.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for overseeing environmental functions at multiple milling and mining facilities within the Canadian operations. This includes monitoring and overseeing operational and administrative compliance with the environmental regulations and Magris Talc Canada policies and guidelines by either performing the following duties personally or through appropriate location personnel. This includes but is not limited to ever changing legislative requirements.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

This includes but is not limited to ever changing legislative requirements.
JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
- Support the compliance and implementation of the Environmental Management System in compliance with Magris Talc environmental standards, ISO, local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.
- Conduct planned environmental inspections, regulatory audits, and Magris Talc Environmental Management System audits.
- Participate in the investigation of environmental incidents and hazards.
- Prepare, update, and maintain necessary permits, reports or forms required by governmental agencies.
- Participate in the improvement of procedures for incident prevention practices.
- Oversee the compliance and coordination of permitting, compliance and monitoring programs for air, water, and land.
- Devise and conduct training programs, which will increase proficiency in environmentally sound work practices as well as promote awareness.
- Support the development, implementation, and coordination of mine closure activities.
- Coordinate a comprehensive environmental strategy with both the manufacturing and mining operations.
- Ensure that accurate record and report data from all analyses and tests are produced in the necessary timeframe.
- Continually review and support site, provincial and federal reporting requirements.
- Maintains environmental files and records and prepares reports on activities and programs.
- Provide advice, resources and assistance to the operations and contractors in the interpretation of company environmental systems, policies, and procedures.
- Support the HSQ management systems through ongoing aspect assessment, audits, document reviews and revisions as required.
- Liaises with Group HSEQ Senior Management and Site Management to continually review and improve best practices.
- Support the planning and coordinating of reclamation activities.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements:
- Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or a diploma in Environmental Technology or related field.
- 5+ years' experience in a relevant field
Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics:
- Critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple locations.
- Strong understanding of applicable environmental legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of computer skills and data processing.
- Strong prioritization, organization, and reasoning skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships within the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Abil lity to physical perform sample collection and inspections in various weather conditions, including but not limited to, walking, climbing, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and lifting or moving up to 50lbs.
