We are now seeking expression of interest from current Newcrest staff in the position of Senior Specialist - Business Support at Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).

The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Specialist - Business Support to lead the business improvement function in Process Plant Operations, to facilitate both continual and step change improvements of operational performance / revenue / cost / position.

Reporting to the Superintendent - Projects and Development, you will undertake routine analysis of process plant operations value chain performance to identify high value improvement ideas which improve revenue and cost performance.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who will:
  • Facilitate business improvement within Lihir Gold Process Plant Operations, by providing support to the Operations Superintendents and their teams.
  • Support initiative owners in the sustainable delivery of improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the administration relating to the tracking on improvement ideas and the value generated.
  • Facilitate the creation of monitoring tools and reports to assist Process Plant Operations Superintendents track spend, people and improvement ideas.
  • Work with other site areas (HSE, HR, P&E) to develop and facilitate useful review processes that aids in communication (e.g. Monthly Deep Dive development).
  • Provide coaching and act as a mentor for Business Analysts in addition to formal supervision.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Qualifications in business studies or other business improvement methods (such as Six Sigma, PMBOK, Agile, Price, Lean, Shingo) are desirable.
  • Previous experience in either the Mining industry or value chain performance analytics.
  • Excellent conceptual, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and interpret information across a range of activities.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, and the ability to appropriately tailor communication to the audience
  • Demonstrated experience leading a culture where safety and people come first.
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen, and ability to clearly identify drivers of business value.
  • Ability to build constructive relationships from Manger level down.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, consider and manage risks associated with change.

Mobilisation Requirements:
  • FIFO to Lihir
  • Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
