Senior Manager, Mine Planning

Schedule: Full time, Permanent (Hybrid)

Position Reports To: Vice-President, Technical Services

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Vice-President, Technical Services, the Senior Manager, Mine Planning will be responsible for providing mining expertise and advice to the organization, focusing mainly on operations and project development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide open pit and underground mine engineering expertise and advice to operations, projects, and corporate groups
  • Oversee and assist in the estimation of mineral reserves for New Gold operations and projects
  • Collaborate with site personnel to develop life-of-mine plans, budgets, and forecasts
  • Manage consultants and internal teams to complete technical studies for new projects, expansion projects, and optimizations
  • Prepare internal and external technical reports and presentations.
  • Undertake mining method, mine design, and mining sequence optimization studies. Promote best practices through exchange with geologists, engineers, supervisors, and operators.
  • Undertake technical due diligence on projects and operations for potential acquisition .
  • Act as a role model to have the "Courage to Care" and p romote the Company's standards in Safety, Health, Environment and Community Relations.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

Qualifications
  • A B achelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of mining experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer and qualified to act as a Qualified Person in Canada


Other Requirements
  • Strong operational and mine planning experience with advance technical analysis skills
  • Broad knowledge of the entire mining process from geology to mine planning, operations, and processing
  • Demonstrated history of mine optimization through mine planning and operational excellence projects
  • Recognized as technically proficient in all aspects of underground mining, with expertise in gold and copper mining
  • Skilled user of mine planning software
  • Experience in due diligence reviews and the drafting of NI 43-101 Technical Reports
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with, and influence all levels of the organization
  • Ability to apply business, financial and technical thinking skills
  • Detail oriented but with the ability to think conceptually and strategically when required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work effectively with minimal supervision
