Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.
Our Team
The Site Services team consists of over 200 Vale and contractor employees and is responsible for delivering a wide variety of support services to both employees and operations at the mine site. The effective delivery of these services is critical to the operation and includes such things as; air transportation, logistics, people movement, catering, accommodations, road maintenance, security and concentrate shipping.
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Site Services Superintendent to join our Site Services department in Voisey's Bay. This permanent position will be on a 1 week on/1 week off rotation working at the mine site.
The Site Serivces Superintendent is responsible for the safe, sustainable and efficent delivery of services to the mine site such as; accommodations, catering, flights, security, on site transportation, potable water, waste disposal, concentrate shipping, freight movement, snow clearing and road maintenance. Provides leadership and direction to the Site Services employees and permanent contractors in the daily execution of their work task. They will insure that 5S standads are adhered to in all areas. They will ensure Best Practices are being used & ensure effective Safety & Environmental procedures are in place & continuously updated in their area of responsibility. This position will ensure the catering & cleaning for the mine site is maintained at a high standard and that security measures are in place to ensure the safety and support to all employees. This position will oversee the work of the outside site services contractor to ensure that it meets the requirements of the mine site. This position will also ensure that sports, leisure & recreation facilities for camp occupants are amenable to all those living & working at the Voisey's Bay site.

In this position, you will:
- Oversee a broad range of services provided to the mine site by the Site Services department and ensure that they are all being performed at a world-class standard.
- Provide leadership to the site services supervisors.
- Perform Safety inspections of the relevant areas in conjunction with SHE, supervisors, employees, manager and contractors.
- Assist in the development and monitoring the operating budget for Site Services.
- Ensure that work areas are operating productively while maintaining maximum efficiency, environmental sensitivity and safety standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement using VPS methodology.
- Ensure all equipment & work force resources are in place & ready to operate to allow for effective & timely operations.
- Review and develop where required, SOP's, Hazops and Risk assesments for the various activities in the Site Services area of the operation to ensure they are suitable for the work being performed.
- Ensure that effective Safety & Environmental procedures, government regulations and Vale standard operating procedures (SOPs) are being implemented & followed in their area of responsibility.
- Provide coordination of activities to support the mobilization and demobilization of freight and equipment to and from the mine site.
- Complete various other assignments & activities as directed by the Manager.
About You
Education:
- A minimum of post-secondary education in Logistics or related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
Skills:
- Experience and proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Must have 5 years' experience with Port operations, shipping activities & have a previous successful track record with site services support materials handling and coordination in a heavy Industrial operation.
- Must be a good leader and have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with several groups with competing priorities and find alignment & common ground in scheduling as necessary.
